Gym Protocol: Equipment Respect & Damage Accountability

1 Aug by Vforce Elite

Teaching Responsibility. Encouraging Growth. Building Character.
At our gym, we use every opportunity to teach life lessons that extend beyond the mat. Respecting equipment is not just about safety—it’s about learning accountability, discipline, and shared responsibility.

1. Equipment Responsibility
All gymnasts are expected to treat equipment with care and use it only as instructed by a coach.

Misuse, roughhousing, or carelessness that results in damage to gym property will not be tolerated.

2. Education & Prevention
Coaches will regularly review proper equipment use and reinforce respectful behavior.

Gentle reminders are given when necessary to help athletes grow and learn from their actions.

3. Consequences for Damaging Equipment
If equipment is damaged due to negligence or misuse, the following steps will be taken.
Parents will be notified at every stage.
First Incident:

The gymnast will write a letter to the gym acknowledging the behavior, expressing what they’ve learned, and outlining how they will show responsibility moving forward. Parents will be notified. Second Incident:

A formal written notice will be issued. The gymnast may be suspended from the specific event or class. Parents will receive a detailed email explaining the incident and the next steps. Repeated or Severe Incidents:

The family may be held financially responsible for repair or replacement of equipment. A meeting may be scheduled to discuss continued participation. Parents will be contacted to schedule a discussion. 4. Parental Involvement
We are partners in raising not just skilled athletes, but responsible individuals.
Parents will always be informed when an issue arises and are encouraged to help reinforce these life lessons at home.
